Before the city fully awakens, Marrakech belongs to a different rhythm. Market traders prepare for the day ahead and the streets remain unusually quiet.
Drawn by the extraordinary light of dawn, I noticed a lone figure illuminated by a market stall while the city around them remained almost empty. A brief, peaceful moment before the familiar energy of Marrakech returned.

Sea turtles live an improbable life. They hatch, rush to the ocean to begin a life of wandering before returning back to the beach where their life began to complete the cycle. The odds of making in are vanishingly small. Less than one in ten thousand hatchlings will make it - a real tale of resilience (and luck). This was shot on Lankayan island, a marine conservation and military base about 80 miles off the coast of Malaysian Borneo, close to the Philippines.

The alarm sounded at 3.30am. By first light, a small group of visitors stood silently among the temples of Tikal in northern Guatemala as the jungle slowly emerged from the darkness.
Once one of the great cities of the Maya civilisation, the ruins remain both monumental and strangely peaceful. As the sun rose above the canopy, the scale of what had been built here more than a thousand years ago felt quietly overwhelming.

Before sunrise, while visitors gathered to photograph the Taj Mahal, two worshippers performed their morning prayers on the banks of the Yamuna River. For a few moments, one of the world's most recognisable landmarks became little more than a backdrop to a quieter and more personal ritual.
The image is a reminder that even in places visited by millions, small moments of reflection and devotion still unfold unnoticed.

Busier than the terraces at an Istanbul football derby, Galata Bridge is crowded with anglers from dawn until dusk. What caught my eye was the lone figure in red, standing out against a sea of blues and greys as hundreds of fishing lines converged towards the Bosphorus below.

Walking through the rainforest in Corcovado National Park in Costa Rica, the world’s most biodiverse region, this juvenile spider monkey peered through the canopy and held my gaze. A testament to conservation efforts in the country, the monkey showed no fear, just curiosity.
Most winter mornings, the Bridgewater Canal is simply part of the landscape. But when a deep freeze arrives, everything changes. Seen from Brooklands Bridge, the canal becomes a study in line, symmetry and silence, stretching towards a distant horizon beneath frost-covered trees.
Only ever lasts for a few days, but it’s magical when it does.
